About Lynchburg Alumnae Chapter

The Lynchburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated was chartered on May 6, 1939, under the name Alpha Theta Sigma Chapter. The installation officer was Marian Palmer Capps, Regional Director. Pauline Fletcher Weeden Maloney was the chapter’s first president. Alpha Theta Sigma Chapter was launched under Delta’s theme of Sisterhood and Service.

In 1964, Alpha Theta Sigma Chapter name was changed to Lynchburg Alumnae Chapter. The name changed, but the course of action and the commitment remained steadfast - upholding the ideals of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Welcome to the website of the Lynchburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. I am honored to serve as President of this distinguished chapter. Since 1939, the chapter has been rooted in public service through structured events and programs that educate, empower, and engage citizens residing in our service area which includes the city of Lynchburg and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, and Campbell. We are still committed to offering our service area a range of programs under our Five-Point Programmatic Thrust which includes Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.
